What is your health worth to you?

I am just curious… What exactly is your health worth to you?

I’ve been contemplating this question recently and have been really interested in how my answer has changed and evolved over the years…

For me as a child, health was a given. It was just who I was. Vibrant, full of life, and the concept was really not worth contemplating because I was too busy enjoying myself as a small child exploring the world…

As time went on, although I was good at absorbing life’s experiences, I wasn’t so good at interpreting all the messages society shared with me…

Eventually, the messaging about what I should look like to be loved, to feel self-worth, to feel safe, changed. It was no longer who I was innately… it was something I had to earn.

At least that was the story I was told…

Health became more of something I needed to maintain through my physicality… through how I looked and not necessarily how I felt inside getting there.

This obsession peaked in my 20’s. Health became a physical craving, sometime I would pay dollars to achieve… heck, I centered my entire education and career around it. In those years, health equated to a pant size, a numbers game, something that I needed to attain to be worthy, loved, and seen.

In my late 20s and early 30’s something changed. The health that others could see on the outside no longer was enough… The stuff going on inside started screaming louder and louder…

It just wasn’t enough to be thin and starving…

It wasn’t enough to be eating “healthy” and feeling empty…

It wasn’t enough to look pretty and still feeling unworthy...

And my physical body was exhausted. I was burnt out from too much time in the gym, from counting every calorie and spending time scouring the internet for answers…

Really, I just wasn’t living…

Have you ever felt this way?

Why does it have to feel so hard…??

I transformed when I recognized that it doesn’t have to be this way… I got to make a choice and now I get to help my clients make a choice and reclaim their freedom around food and body and embrace life in a new way.

Your health is invaluable, but it isn’t your ticket to being loved, feeling seen, or having worth…

That comes from within. Self-worth, receiving love, and following your heart is your natural state.

It is your birthright.

We just need to remember that and start telling ourselves a new story.

Wishing you nothing but love this week…

xx
